I had the pleasure of witnessing The Noire Series come to life at W.C. Overfelt High School. My son attended the series and came home excited every day with stories about the group discussions they held and loved sharing things he learned about Black history. The Noire Series opened his eyes to our culture and gave him a new found appreciation for his Blackness and for the stories and history of our own family.

Attending The Noire Series workshops while in high school was life changing for me. My sense of self and worldview shifted dramatically. This program woke me up. I wouldn’t be the young woman I am today without this space providing me knowledge of self. As a result, taking pride in representing and advocating for my community is a huge priority.
